WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR APPOINTMENT
Congratulations on your engagement! Exciting times are ahead with so much to plan and look forward to between now and your big day. One of the most fun and important being finding “The Dress”. Here at Happily Ever After we are here to make this experience as enjoyable and stress free as possible. Take a look at what to expect from your bridal appointment.
Who To Bring?
Generally, you should stick to the mantra that too many cooks can spoil the broth, so don’t bring your entire entourage with you! Your maid of honour and your mum ought to be sufficient. With too many conflicting opinions, you can get a little overwhelmed, when what you actually need are a couple of trustworthy people who know you really well and can help you make an informed decision.
It will help us to show you relevant styles if you have an idea of budget before you come. It doesn’t have to be exact, we know this can change if the dress is perfect.
What To Wear
For your first appointment it is not vital to have special underwear. We will help you in and out of the dresses so wear something that you are comfortable being in front of a stranger in! We’re not shy though, so choose what’s best for you. A well fitting bra with or without straps and seam free laser cut knickers in a neutral colour are a good option. Also keep fake tan and make up to a minimum, not only is it sometimes ‘hot’ business getting in and out of dresses, but kindly consider the boutique samples – they are very precious and smears of fake bake and MAC lipstick from the previous bride is never a great look!
If you have a heel height that you like, it is worth bringing a pair of your own heels to the appointment. We do however sell shoes and may have a perfect fit four you to try in the boutique.
The wedding dresses in bridal boutiques are all sample sizes, because we can’t carry every dress in every size. This means that the dress you try on might not fit you perfectly, but don’t worry, we’ll do our best to show you how the same dress would look in your size.
Not sure what you want?
Come with an open mind, especially if you haven’t tried many dresses yet, but try to pick out some styles from our website that you think might suit you and the type of wedding you are planning. We learn as we go through the appointment and get to know you a bit, so will probably suggest others once we have seen you in a couple of dresses and get an idea of what is suiting you and what you like. Try different styles, even if you think you might not like them; you’ll be surprised at what suits you and what doesn’t. Boutique stylists will listen to your desires but are also well versed in finding dresses that compliment your body shape, wedding theme and, most importantly, your personality.
We have a range of accessories that you can try along with the dresses and we will help you to style your look. Dressing up is the fun part! If you have any family heirlooms that you would really like to wear on your wedding day, do bring them with you to the appointment. We may be able to offer advice on how they could work and we love to swoon over a bit of vintage.
We do ask you and your guests to please not take any photos in our studio during your appointment. Photos taken in a small space, of a dress that doesn’t yet fit properly are rarely helpful and can leave you feeling disillusioned about a style that you actually looked great in. We have a good honest mirror and urge you to concentrate on your reflection and how you feel in the dress.
All of our styles are on the website so you can refer back to them and you will always be welcomed back for a re-cap.
There is no charge for our appointments however we do offer a VIP Experience which includes sparkling wine, cakes etc for more information please click here.
If you need to cancel or re-arrange an appointment please give us as much notice as possible so that we can offer it to another client.
We can’t wait to meet you, see you soon!
